Protective Services

Department Responsibilities

  • Protective Services receives reports of Abuse: Physical Abuse, Emotional Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Neglect Self- Neglect and Financial Exploitation. Reports are screened out and not assign,  or screened in and assign to a Protective Services Worker for Investigation and Implementation of a Service plan where appropriate.
  • Report certain substantiated claims of Abuse to the District Attorney
  • Seek Protective Orders, as appropriate from the courts and also assist with eviction process.
  • Pursue the appointment of a Guardian or Conservator through the Family and Probate Court if it has been determined by an Investigation that such appointments are in the best Interest of the elder.

Meet the Director

Responsible for the overall functioning of the PS program as determined to be necessary for the administration of the Protective Services program i.e. Motivating, providing support, consultation and guidance to the Protective Services Team.

Publicize and provide education to Mandated Reporters and the general community regarding Elder Abuse, reporting requirements and reporting process.

Comply with Regulations, Program Instructions and Standards of Practice developed by the Department to implement and maintain the Protective Services Program.
